Aspen UK at CogX 2020: Tackling Abuse Online

June 10, 2020
June 2020

At this year’s London Tech Week, Aspen UK partnered with the Jo Cox Foundation to hold an interactive webinar – ‘Tackling Abuse Online’. The event was held as a part of the CogX global leadership summit and festival of AI and emerging technology.

The discussion was led by columnist Derek Wyatt and Catherine Anderson, CEO of the Jo Cox Foundation. With participation from the engaged and varied audience, they discussed the role of policy makers and CxOs of small and big tech companies in curbing abusive behaviour online. Viewers were challenged to explore the question: what values and practices do we want from our leaders in this time of rapid change and innovation?

The discussion began with a reading of excerpts from an article on online trolls by writer and comedian David Baddiel. Audience members were also invited to share their own experiences of online abuse and the impact this has had on their lives, and to discuss possible solutions.

The event was a great opportunity to talk about leadership and values in the digital realm. Aspen UK looks forward to further collaborations with both CogX and the Jo Cox Foundation.
