Grief is a universal human experience, but one that’s rarely spoken about in leadership settings. In this special Aspen UK webinar, two Rising Leader Fellows open up a powerful conversation on how personal loss shapes who we are, how we lead, and how we show up for others.
Alvin Carpio, Founding Director of the School of Social Justice, shares the story behind his short film “rites”, a poetic exploration of memory, grief, and healing following the loss of his father when he was a young boy. In conversation with Richa Mitra, senior advocate for mental health and social justice, the discussion will examine how grief can be a force for insight and growth, as well as a source of pain.
Together, they will reflect on what it means to lead with vulnerability, to hold space for others in times of loss, and to imagine a more compassionate form of leadership.
This session is part of Aspen UK’s commitment to exploring the complex, often hidden dimensions of leadership, and fostering honest, values-driven dialogue across our network.
