We are excited to announce a new partnership between Aspen Institute UK and the Royal United Services Institute in the form of a series of events focused on questions of ethical leadership, celebrating successes in classified work environments, and leadership in the security and defence sector. This partnership will include a series of webinars and an in-person event which will take place over the coming months.
The first webinar is taking place on Tuesday 28 November, with Lord Jonathan Evans, Director General of the British Security Service (MI5) from 2007-13. Lord Evans will be in conversation with an Aspen UK Rising Leader.
This webinar will take a deep dive into the world of secret organisations and ethical decision making. Lord Jonathan will be reflecting on his time as head of MI5, exploring the impact of celebrating successes when you’re unable to do this publicly, and how to inspire the next generation of individuals.
Attendees will be given the chance to ask questions throughout the session and will gain a unique insight into how leadership decisions are made in highly pressurised environments.
Future events in this series will include a second webinar in January and an in-person event at RUSI home in Whitehall in March 2024. More details including dates and speakers will be announced soon.
We look forward to welcoming Aspen UK Rising Leaders and RUSI NextGen community members to these events.
