As AI continues to reshape our world, it evokes a spectrum of visions ranging from utopian to dystopian. In this webinar, guest expert William Powers will explore the contrasting perspectives on AI’s potential, using Marc Andreessen’s hyper-optimistic 2023 vision of AI saving the world and E.M. Forster’s dystopian vision of the future in his 1909 short story “The Machine Stops.” Powers will delve into how these divergent views highlight the challenges and opportunities in governing AI technologies.

This session will examine the implications of these narratives for policy-making and the role of leaders in balancing innovation with safeguarding societal values. Join us to discuss how we can navigate this dichotomy to build a future where AI serves humanity positively. This webinar is brought to you by Aspen UK’s Rising Leaders Fellowship and will be facilitated by Teijas Ky, Ambassador for the Tech, Transport and Logistics Industry Network Group.
