Shayan Talabany

Moderator

Shayan is an expert in geopolitics, with a special emphasis on the Arabian Peninsula/Persian Gulf countries and British foreign policy towards the Middle East. She is an analyst at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change (TBI) and has an MSc in International Relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Her work highlights the need to better understand the leadership, opportunities, skills and dynamism that exists in the region, and better shape Middle East focused policy. Her thought leadership on Iraq has encouraged stakeholders to look beyond the 2003 war and engage with Iraqi dynamics in the present.

Before TBI, Shayan worked in Parliament and later for the Conservative Middle East Council where she briefed ministers, special advisors and diplomats engaged in the biggest challenges facing the region.
